About this Head of Motorsports Engineering Role

As Head of Motorsports Engineering, you will take strategic and operational ownership of the motorsport engineering function, leading multiple high-performance projects from concept through to delivery. Reporting directly to the Chief Technical Officer, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team, set the technical vision, and ensure engineering excellence across all projects. This is a leadership role requiring both deep technical expertise and proven team management skills, with responsibility for driving process innovation, supporting commercial growth, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

What is expected of you as a Head of Motorsports Engineering with our client?

  • Minimum HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 15+ years of industry experience, with at least 10 years in motorsport or similarly demanding high-performance environments
  • Expert-level proficiency in CAD modelling, preferably Siemens NX (Catia considered)
  • Extensive experience in the design and manufacture of composite and metallic components for high-performance vehicles
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and developing engineering teams in a project-based environment
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to complex challenges
  • Excellent communicator, able to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities of Head of Motorsports Engineering with our client

  • Lead and deliver a portfolio of end-to-end motorsport projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary technical team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure engineering outcomes align with commercial and operational objectives
  • Support the Commercial team in technical discussions with prospective clients, contributing to successful project acquisition
  • Interpret and translate customer requirements into clear, actionable design and engineering solutions
  • Oversee and review engineering designs and manufacturing drawings for compliance with internal quality standards
  • Drive continual improvement of design practices, engineering processes, and team performance
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, including AS 9100D (training provided if required)
  • Champion process optimisation and implement new engineering methodologies where beneficial
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance during prototype testing and validation phases
