Job Opening: Machine Learning Scientist - Chemistry Focus

Are you driven to make a real impact through cutting-edge AI and chemistry? Ready to be part of a breakthrough initiative to accelerate the energy transition? Join a purpose-driven, well-funded startup where your contributions will have a lasting impact on both technology and the environment. We're building an innovative AI platform that discovers new catalysts, fundamentally transforming chemical processes to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions.

Why You Should Join Us

We're an early-stage startup backed by over €8M in funding, rooted in academic research but highly focused on real-world applications. Our agile team is dedicated, passionate, and unified by the belief that our technology can create transformative change. We cultivate a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives, clear communication, and a commitment to excellence are our core strengths. Here, you'll be supported, challenged, and inspired as we scale up to take on carbon-intensive industries and drive sustainable change.

What You'll Do

Reporting directly to the Chief Science Officer, you'll join our Paris-based team to advance our mission of discovering game-changing materials that can reimagine chemical reactions. As an ML Scientist, you'll play a central role in:

  • Developing Algorithms: Collaborate with our expert team to create predictive and generative ML models, optimizing them for materials discovery in partnership with our industry and academic collaborators.
  • Model Evaluation: Continuously assess and refine our models' performance, creating custom metrics that drive effective catalyst generation.
  • Active Learning: Shape the active learning strategy, optimizing sample selection to enhance future model performance.
  • Catalyst Analysis: Guide the evaluation of new catalyst candidates using your scientific expertise to prioritize results.
  • Communicating Results: Present AI research concepts to the materials science community and communicate experimental needs with the ML team.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work side-by-side with ML engineers, material scientists, and chemists to develop effective materials for critical applications.

What We're Looking For

  • Educational Background: M.S or PhD in Machine Learning, Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field with a focus on AI for scientific applications.
  • Experience: Skilled in machine learning and materials discovery, especially in training ML models for applications like electro-catalysis.
  • Adaptability: A proactive learner with a passion for uniting machine learning with materials science.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to convey complex ideas to interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Python, familiar with Git, and capable with data analysis and visualization tools. Knowledge in catalysis, physics, and chemistry is a plus.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: Your expertise is valued.
  • Equity: Join us on our journey with a stake in our company's success.
  • Health Coverage: Comprehensive health insurance with Alan blue.
  • Flexible Work Setting: We prioritize in-person collaboration but offer flexibility for occasional remote work.
