Field Service Engineer - Electrical Bias
Location: Heybridge / Hybrid
Employment: Full Time
Clearance: Full MoD Security Clearance required

Role Summary:
The Field Service Engineer plays a key technical and ambassadorial role supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of advanced marine propulsion and power systems across naval, commercial marine, superyacht, and land-based sectors. The role involves hands-on service activities, fault finding, and diagnostics of electrical switchboards and power management systems, working both independently and within teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and best practices.

  • Commission, service, repair, and install propulsion and power systems, including IPMS/AMS and switchboards on vessels.

  • Perform fault diagnosis using traditional and PC-based tools, root cause analysis, and technical reporting.

  • Provide emergency on-call support as part of a rota.

  • Share knowledge and support team development.

  • Implement continuous improvement and adhere to company processes.

  • Manage stock control of parts and equipment under care.

  • Occasionally perform workshop duties and provide in-field technical guidance to others.

  • Travel extensively within the UK and Republic of Ireland, with occasional overseas travel including training and deployment under CONDO arrangements.

  • Maintain high standards of communication, professionalism, and discipline expected of a blue-chip employer.

Candidate Profile:

  • Relevant electrical engineering qualification or demonstrable equivalent industry experience.

  • Strong technical competence in marine propulsion/power products, electrical switchboards, and diagnostics.

  • Ability to use PC-based diagnostic tools and traditional methods.

  • Basic mechanical knowledge.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Willingness to travel extensively, including overseas assignments.

  • Physically capable of demanding fieldwork.

  • Proficient in MS Office and technical report writing.

  • Full, clean driving licence and current passport essential.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.

  • Commitment to attaining and maintaining full MoD Security Clearance and CONDO training.
