Are you an experienced Functional Safety Engineer looking for a flexible contract role within a safety-critical environment? We're supporting a leading engineering consultancy as they deliver functional safety support to a long-term national infrastructure project in the nuclear sector.

Whether you're available part-time or full-time, this is a rare opportunity to apply your expertise in functional safety on a highly technical and nationally significant programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver functional safety assessments across complex engineering systems in line with relevant standards and methodologies.

  • Carry out safety analyses including FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, and LOPA.

  • Contribute to the development and review of safety case documentation.

  • Engage with design and engineering teams to ensure systems meet required safety integrity levels.

  • Provide input into safety plans and verification strategies.

  • Present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Significant experience in functional safety engineering within nuclear, defence, aerospace or other regulated sectors.

  • Familiarity with relevant standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511 or similar.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on safety-related tasks and documentation.

  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.

  • Must be a British national and eligible for SC clearance.

Contract Details:
