Field Service Engineer

Location: Manchester, Leeds & Birmingham.

Salary: £45,000-£50,000 + 10% Bonus + Company Car

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting customers through installation, commissioning, maintenance and technical troubleshooting of complex systems. This position involves both on-site and remote support, requiring a customer-focused approach and a strong foundation in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission and service company equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and urgent repairs.
  • Provide customer training on system use and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic.
  • Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
  • Support sales and applications teams with technical expertise during customer projects.
  • Prepare and submit accurate technical and administrative reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on product testing, exhibitions and customer demonstrations.
  • Advise on market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical or related engineering discipline.
  • Significant hands-on experience as a Field Service Engineer/Technician (5+ years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with PLC systems and interfaces is desirable.
  • Ability to read and understand technical diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using engineering tools, instrumentation and software.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently, solve problems and manage tasks efficiently.
  • Flexible to travel within the UK and occasionally abroad (valid driving licence required).
