Food Technical Manager
Location: Near Snetterton
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
I'm recruiting for an experienced Technical Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business operating within a high-risk environment. This is a senior, customer-facing role with full responsibility for food safety, quality, compliance, and the delivery of technical standards that meet and exceed customer expectations.
The Role
As Food Technical Manager, you'll be the primary technical contact for customers, ensuring their standards, specifications, and expectations are fully embedded into site operations. You'll lead the site's technical function, manage external relationships, and represent the business confidently during audits, visits, and technical reviews.
Your focus will be on maintaining strong customer relationships while driving robust food safety and quality systems that consistently deliver compliant, high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all site food safety, quality, and technical systems with a strong customer focus
- Act as the main technical point of contact for major UK retail customers
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS Food Safety Standard, customer standards, and UK food legislation
- Lead customer, third-party, and regulatory audits, ensuring successful outcomes
- Manage and maintain HACCP systems and food safety risk assessments
- Oversee customer specifications, standards, and technical requirements
- Proactively manage customer queries, expectations, and technical escalations
- Drive continuous improvement in food safety, quality performance, and customer satisfaction
- Lead, develop, and mentor the Technical team
About You
- Experience working in a customer facing Technical Manager or similar role is essential
- Proven experience as a Technical Manager within poultry, meat, or high-risk food manufacturing
- Strong, demonstrable experience working directly with major UK retail customers
- In-depth working knowledge of the BRCGS Food Safety Standard
- HACCP Level 3 qualification or above
- Confident leading audits and managing complex customer standards
- Strong understanding of UK food law and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and customers
