The Role
This is a senior-level Electrical / Controls Systems position with responsibility across the full machine lifecycle - from concept design through to commissioning.
You will work closely with mechanical design engineers and development teams to deliver robust, compliant and high-performing machine control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical control system design (schematics, panel layouts, BOMs)
- PLC programming (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley)
- Motion control and servo integration
- HMI system development (PC-based systems advantageous)
- Machinery safety system design (EN60204 and relevant standards)
- Integration of electrical and mechanical systems
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) support and commissioning
- Provide technical support to service teams and customers when required
- Project reporting into the Engineering Director
This role would suit someone comfortable working autonomously within an SME-style engineering environment.
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering
- 6+ years' experience in industrial automation or special purpose machinery
- Strong electrical design capability (Eplan preferred)
- PLC programming experience (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
- Experience working on bespoke machinery or capital equipment
- Understanding of machinery safety standards
Desirable:
- Motion control / CNC system exposure
- Experience with Wonderware, LabVIEW, or PC-based HMI systems
- Commissioning experience
- Multi-disciplinary project experience
