CNC Inspector
Location: Thetford, Norfolk
Salary: £18.00 per hour
We are recruiting a CNC Inspector to join an established manufacturing business in Thetford. This is a hands-on position with a strong focus on CMM and dimensional inspection of precision-machined components.
We’re looking for someone with experience in CNC machining, inspection or quality who is confident working from engineering drawings and tight tolerances.
You don't necessarily need to already be an experienced Quality Inspector. We would also be very interested in speaking with CNC Machinists, CNC Millers or CNC Turners who have a strong understanding of component inspection and are looking to move away from machining into a dedicated Quality and Inspection role.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out CMM and dimensional inspection of CNC-machined components.
- Complete first-off, last-off and final component inspections.
- Inspect incoming materials and subcontracted components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
- Use a range of CMM, metrology and manual inspection equipment to verify components meet specification.
- Identify and document non-conforming components and support corrective quality processes.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and gauge calibration information.
- Support PPAP, machine trials, Gauge R&R studies and statistical data collection.
- Work closely with CNC machinists, production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and maintain quality standards in line with ISO 9001:2015.
About You
We would like to hear from candidates with experience in CNC machining, precision engineering, quality inspection or metrology. Previous experience with CMM inspection would be highly advantageous, although we are happy to consider an experienced CNC Machinist looking to take the next step into an Inspection/Quality career.
You'll ideally be confident:
- Reading and interpreting technical/engineering drawings.
- Inspecting precision-machined components against drawing specifications.
- Using CMMs and/or dimensional inspection equipment.
- Working with equipment such as micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring tools.
- Understanding tolerances and identifying components that fall outside specification.
- Knowledge of PPAP, Gauge R&R and ISO 9001:2015 would also be beneficial but isn't essential for someone coming from a strong CNC machining background.
