We're seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our client's established engineering team based in Essex. This is a permanent, office-based position (Monday to Friday) offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge control and automation projects within a forward-thinking organisation.
Role Overview:
As a Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, programming, and integration of advanced PLC and SCADA systems across a range of industrial automation projects. You'll collaborate closely with customers and internal teams to deliver robust, efficient, and innovative control solutions that meet the highest engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, producing detailed technical documentation including test procedures and operation manuals.
- Provide technical input in system design, troubleshooting, and integration, attending meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of new automation products and control strategies, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability targets.
- Work to defined project schedules in collaboration with the Systems Engineering Manager to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Degree or HNC in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in PLC programming and SCADA development - with strong knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages.
- Solid understanding of industrial automation, control system integration, and electrical design principles.
- Experience interpreting P&ID drawings and using CAD tools such as EPLAN Electric P8 or Visio.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Canbus, and Profibus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative engineering team.
