Job Title: Installation Engineer - Hydraulic Scissor Platforms
Location: Ipswich (UK & US travel required)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum + overtime + travel allowance + benefits
TEC Partners are working with a specialist engineering business in Ipswich, looking for an experienced Installation Engineer to join their growing team. This hands-on position focuses on the installation, commissioning, and servicing of hydraulic scissor lift platforms, complex systems designed for heavy-duty lifting, precision movement, and industrial applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a solid background in hydraulics and electrical systems, who enjoys problem-solving, hands-on work, and extended travel across the UK and US. Projects can last up to three months overseas, so adaptability and enthusiasm for travel are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and maintain hydraulic scissor lift platforms and associated systems at customer sites across the UK and the US.
- Assemble hydraulic systems including pumps, cylinders, valves, and pipework, ensuring accurate setup and alignment.
- Carry out electrical wiring, connection, and testing of control panels and limit switches.
- Perform system checks, calibration, and fault diagnosis during commissioning.
- Interpret and work from hydraulic and electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and installation manuals.
- Ensure all installations meet stringent safety, quality, and performance standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to deliver installations on time and to customer requirements.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience installing or maintaining hydraulic lifting platforms, scissor lifts, or similar mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic circuits, pumps, valves, cylinders, and control systems.
- Competent in electrical wiring, control panel installation, and fault-finding.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Full UK driving licence and valid passport.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and internationally (particularly the US), including overseas assignments of up to 3 months.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer-facing skills.
- Experience in heavy engineering, access equipment, or industrial machinery environments is highly desirable.
