Customer Technical Manager
Location: Near Snetterton
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
I'm recruiting for an experienced Customer Technical Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business operating within a high-risk environment. This is a senior, highly customer-focused role, responsible for managing technical relationships, retailer standards, and customer expectations across the site.
The Role
As Customer Technical Manager, you'll be the primary technical interface between the business and its customers. You'll take ownership of all customer technical requirements, ensuring specifications, standards, and expectations are fully understood, communicated, and delivered across operations.
You'll represent the site during customer visits, technical reviews, and audits, while working closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are embedded into everyday practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main technical point of contact for major UK retail customers
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, managing technical queries and escalations
- Own and manage customer specifications, portals, standards, and approval processes
- Translate customer requirements into clear site procedures and controls
- Lead customer, third-party, and regulatory audits with a strong focus on customer outcomes
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS Food Safety Standard, UK food legislation, and customer codes of practice
- Oversee HACCP systems and food safety risk assessments aligned to customer expectations
- Manage customer complaints, feedback, and corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement in food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Lead, develop, and support the Technical team
About You
- Proven experience as a Technical Manager or Customer Technical Manager within poultry, meat, or high-risk food manufacturing
- Strong, demonstrable experience working directly with major UK retail customers
- In-depth knowledge of the BRCGS Food Safety Standard and retailer codes of practice
- HACCP Level 3 qualification or above
- Confident leading customer audits and managing complex technical standards
- Strong understanding of UK food law and regulatory frameworks
- Credible, confident communicator able to influence customers and senior leadership
