A well-established engineering company in Retford is seeking a Service Engineer to join their Installation & Operations team. This is a hybrid role, offering a mix of site-based work and remote support, with a company vehicle provided. It's ideal for someone with a strong electrical background, a practical mindset, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and service delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, installations, and fault-finding activities, supporting both on-site operations and remote project requirements, while liaising closely with clients and internal teams.

The Role

As a Service Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out installation, maintenance, and servicing of engineering systems across various client sites
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs, ensuring minimal downtime and high-quality workmanship
  • Support both on-site activities and remote technical requirements as part of a hybrid working model
  • Work closely with project teams, site supervisors, and clients to ensure smooth delivery of works
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures
  • Complete all required documentation, including service reports, risk assessments, and permits
  • Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle
  • Travel to sites when required, with flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Strong electrical bias with supporting mechanical knowledge (approx. 60:40 split)
  • Experience carrying out maintenance, installations, and fault-finding
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (Training Provided)

  • CSCS Card
  • Black Card (CSCS Skilled Worker / Supervisor level)
  • Experience working in industrial or site-based environments
  • Knowledge of both mechanical and electrical equipment
