A well-established engineering company in Retford is seeking a Service Engineer to join their Installation & Operations team. This is a hybrid role, offering a mix of site-based work and remote support, with a company vehicle provided. It's ideal for someone with a strong electrical background, a practical mindset, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and service delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, installations, and fault-finding activities, supporting both on-site operations and remote project requirements, while liaising closely with clients and internal teams.
The Role
As a Service Engineer, you will:
- Carry out installation, maintenance, and servicing of engineering systems across various client sites
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs, ensuring minimal downtime and high-quality workmanship
- Support both on-site activities and remote technical requirements as part of a hybrid working model
- Work closely with project teams, site supervisors, and clients to ensure smooth delivery of works
- Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures
- Complete all required documentation, including service reports, risk assessments, and permits
- Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle
- Travel to sites when required, with flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team
Essential Requirements
- Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Strong electrical bias with supporting mechanical knowledge (approx. 60:40 split)
- Experience carrying out maintenance, installations, and fault-finding
- Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable (Training Provided)
- CSCS Card
- Black Card (CSCS Skilled Worker / Supervisor level)
- Experience working in industrial or site-based environments
- Knowledge of both mechanical and electrical equipment
