Field Service Engineer

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a global manufacturer of precision dispensing, fluid management and industrial automation equipment.
This is a customer-facing role supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of advanced manufacturing systems across the UK. You'll work closely with customers, sales teams and engineering colleagues, providing technical expertise while helping customers maximise equipment performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and configure industrial equipment at customer sites.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults, providing effective technical solutions.
- Deliver customer training on the operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Support customer process trials and application testing both on-site and within technical facilities.
- Assist with system verification, testing and optimisation during project delivery.
- Produce accurate technical service reports and documentation following site visits.
- Work closely with Sales and Aftermarket teams to identify opportunities for spare parts, upgrades and service contracts.
- Provide market feedback regarding customer requirements, competitor activity and product improvements.
- Support exhibitions, demonstrations, open days and other customer events when required.
About You
We're looking for an engineer with strong technical ability and excellent customer-facing skills.
You'll ideally have:
- HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Technician or Maintenance Engineer within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
- Experience with installation, servicing, fault finding and preventative maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment would be advantageous.
- Confident using engineering tools, testing equipment and diagnostic instruments.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and service reporting software (SAP experience advantageous).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.
