Electrical Technician – Wiring & Assembly
Location: Newmarket, Suffolk
Salary: Up to £35,000
Are you experienced in electrical wiring, assembly or panel building and confident working from electrical drawings and schematics?
We’re recruiting an Electrical Technician – Wiring & Assembly to join an engineering business based in Newmarket. This is a hands-on, workshop-based position working as part of a production and engineering team to build and test electrical systems for bespoke engineering projects.
You don't necessarily need to have held the title "Electrical Assembler". We're interested in people from a range of hands-on electrical backgrounds who are comfortable building, wiring and testing electrical components and systems.
What you'll be doing
You'll be involved throughout the electrical build process, including:
- Assembling and wiring electrical components, assemblies and systems
- Control panel wiring
- Cable preparation, routing and termination
- Working from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics
- Carrying out quality inspections and functional checks
- Identifying and resolving wiring or assembly issues during the build
- Working closely with mechanical assembly and engineering teams
- Maintaining accurate build documentation
- Supporting improvements to build quality and manufacturing efficiency
What we're looking for
We're keen to hear from candidates with previous hands-on experience in electrical assembly, wiring, panel building or a similar engineering environment.
You might currently be working as an:
Electrical Assembler | Panel Wirer | Electrical Technician | Electrical Fitter | Machine Wirer | Electrical Build Technician | Production Technician | Control Panel Wireperson
More important than your current job title is your practical experience.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience assembling and wiring electrical components or systems
- The ability to confidently read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics
- Experience with cable preparation and termination
- Good practical problem-solving skills and the ability to identify wiring or assembly issues
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on build quality
- Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience with low-voltage electrical systems and control panel wiring would be advantageous.
